A review of our events in 2014

February 10th  AGM
The Annual General Meeting of Slow Food Galway took place at The Cottage Bar in Salthill.
The meeting was followed by a tasting of local craft beers accompanied by finger food

March 9th  Cheese & Wine Tasting
Hosted by Seamus Sheridan from Sheridan’s Cheesemongers and Tagdh Byrne From Woodberry’s Wine. This event took place in the award winning Oscars Seafood Bistro.

April 2nd - Protest against open Pen Fish Farms in Galway Bay at the BIM National Seafood Conference which was held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin

April 20th  Cookery Demonstration at Galway Food Festival
At this event we showcased local produce and seasonal wild foods, and the possible use of those ingredients in three separate dishes.

May 4th  Spring Forage
Spring Forage led by Mary Bulfin at the Three Towers Eco House & Organic Kitchen in Kylebrack, Loughrea.

May 6th - Second Protest against open Pen Fish Farms in Galway Bay outside the Galway Business School G. C. I House in Salthill were Taoiseach Enda Kenny was a guest of honour at the Galway Chamber and Business School meeting

August 10th – A Celebration of Bees and Honey at CAIT CURRAN ORGANIC HOLDING. This event incorporated all areas related to bees! Talks on beekeeping with an observation hive for show. Honey tasting. Books, Bee by-products & Cooking with honey.

September 7th – Grandmothers Day Celebration
September 7th is International Grandmothers’ Day. (Details to be announced later in the year!)

October 12th – Bia at the borders!
Slow Food Galway meets Slow Food Mayo in Petersburg, Cong for Our Terra Madre Day Celebrations.

December 15th  – Slow Food Galway Christmas Event at Rustic Grub, comprising a 3 course Dinner from local produce, which started off with native Clarinbridge oyster and a Prosecco reception in Sherrys Bar, Clarinbridge.
