Wine & Cheese Event

There was a great turnout at our first event of the year, which was held in the award wining  Oscar's Seafood Bistro on Dominick Street last Sunday the 9th of March. Everybody at Slow Food Galway would like to say a big thank you  to Michael O' Meara and his wife Sinead the owners of Oscar's, for
their warm welcome and generosity.
The event was a Wine & Cheese tasting which was presented to us by Seamus Sheridan of Sheridan's Cheesemongers and the very knowledgeable Taghd Byrne from Thomas Woodberrys Wines.
Seamus had a carefully chosen selection of both Irish and International renowned cheese based on the philosophy of Slow Food which were paired with wines chosen by Taghd Byrne based on small production wineries.
There was a great atmosphere on the night as both Seamus and Taghd entertained us with their vast knowledge on their chosen subjects and also kept the wine and cheese flowing for the evening. So a big thank you to both of them for sponsoring all the wine and cheese on the night.
A delicious selection of artisan bread on the night was also sponsored by Rustic Grub.
I believe a trip to the Saturday market is not complete unless you take a trip into Sheridans for a selection of cheese and then nip over to Woodberry's and ask Taghd to chooses a wine to match your cheese.
If you enjoyed this event or missed it, you can always book a FREE tour of Irish Cheese Farmhouses which start at the beginning of April, or if you would prefer more detailed information on Irish cheese, then check out the Guide to Irish Farmhouse Cheese.

I hope everybody enjoyed the night.

Kind regards,
