A Feast for Eyes, Ears and Mouth...

Today February 10th Slow Food Galway   held a fantastic event on Blogging and Food Photography in the Irish International Hotel and Catering School in Galway. The day was organised by the newly appointed leader Maria McNeela.
Food blogs have become increasingly popular in recent times, and go far beyond the traditional cook book. They don't only provide recipes, but are a fountain of information on tricks, shopping tips, beverage suggestions, restaurant reviews and culinary journeys of the Author.
Mona Wise winner winner of the overall best blog in Ireland 2012;, author of “The chef & I” and food columnist with The Sunday Times spoke on the subject of food blogging and gave valuable advice on the subject. A good food blog is unthinkable without good photos. Michael O'Meara proprietor of the award winning Oscar’s Seafood Bistro showed participants how to convert a simple dish into a feast for the eyes through his camera lens. He shared his extensive knowledge on food photography, providing practical examples for the theory discussed.
Máirín Uí Chomáin acclaimed cookbook author of the “Irish Oyster Cuisine” talked about her new up and coming book on Salmon, again a perfect example of food writing and food photography.
