Sunday10th October we travelled again this year to Petersburg Outdoor Adventure Centre to search for wild mushrooms. There was a much more managable crowd for our expert Louis Smith, around 35 members with a number of prams and children.
The weather was ideal, it was dry which made it much easier to beat our way through the trees and
search off the paths in Clonbur Woods.
Louis gave an extensive Power Point presentation before we set off so we had some clue what we were looking for.
We spent about 2 hours wandering around the beautiful woods and managed to find eight edible species and lots more of the non edible and poisonous varities.
We had the help also of Louis's trusty companions and fellow mushroom foragers Michael, Robert and convivium member Barbara.
On return to the centre we fried up everything edible including Hedgehog Mushrooms, Amethsyth Deceivers, Brown Deceivers and Brown Bolete to accompany our picnic.
